EBP 311 Polymer Analytical Methods and Failure Analysis
COURSE SYNOPSIS
This course introduces analytical testing methods for polymer and their usage in failure analysis of polymer products. This course will emphasize on analytical test methods that cover characterization of elemental and structural, thermo-mechanical, dynamic test and accelerated test for identifying the cause of a polymer product failure . The principle and usage of these methodologies in assessing the mode and cause of the polymer product failure will be elaborated. The discussion regarding failure analysis will be supplemented by a series of case studies of product failures and the use computer-aided tools/software in predicting failures in polymer product.

EBP 400 Product Design
Every year, Dan is responsible for supervising a group of students for capstone project- on designing product using waste or recycled materials. Students have to consider the source and usability of the waste materials, desired properties of the end product, and mechanical (and thermal) analysis on the end product, before they can penetrate the product into the market.
