8. Community Engagement

As a educator and researcher, im not only working in my cocoon but at the same time reaching the community is my believe to help human kind. With that, community service are my enthusiasm. I was a charity volunteer of Tzu Chi Charity Society in Malacca and Penang. In the society, we helped and visited old folk home as well as “Rumah Kanak Kanak Cacat di Taman Sinar Harapan Cheras”. The main activities we performed were cleaning the living environment, entertaining the resident, bathing the disabled individuals and health screening. Besides, the volunteer work, I have been actively participating in their recycling work by collecting reusable items such as newspapers, paper box/bag, plastics and etc. I was also part of Sin Chew Daily Student Cadet Reporter Team. From these activities, I learnt about leadership skill, teamwork, communication skills with normal and disabled individuals.. In general, my community and volunteer work including service at old folk home, handicap children home, counseling services to orang kampung and orang asli, building home for the needy as well as teaching dharma in a temple.
