3. PROGRESS OF LEARNING TO BECOME A TEACHER

I started stepping into USM in September 2017. At first, I thought that ‘wow, best enter the university, many new friends’. But ya, after orientation, class already start. I and my new friends go to DK Z (I think) to register our subject and go to PPIP Office to drop the subject. It’s so tired but I still believed in myself that I can through it.

So many programmes and activity I had joined in USM. For the first time, I had joined program ‘First Year To School’ under PGA102. So many things that I had learned and experienced from it. For sure, not so easy ya to handle student in classroom. I learned something new from that and I try to understand what student needs.

Through microteaching, I learned many new things about the teaching process. It start from zero to hero (hehe). It start from PGT219, I need to teach my friends using ‘lakonan’ technique. My friends is my students. This ‘lakonan’ technique need students to act according to the situation that teacher given. Dr Jamal teach us how to be a good teacher, how to use teaching aids and so on. In Kaedah Mengajar BM and Geografi, I also must do microteaching. For the Kaedah Mengajar BM, our teaching must be live in the classroom, so our lecturer can give comment direct to presenter or teacher. But it differences with Kaedah Mengajar Geografi, we only record our microteaching and show to the lecturer for comment. So, from this teaching methods, I learned everything. We need to change our teacher style and must be a creative teacher according to 21^st century.

Last but not least, in PGT436E subject, I can explored everything about technologies. I had learned about Anchor (podcast), screencast-O-Matic, canva, genially and many more. We know that our students nowadays liked to use technology. Because the arrival of technology, the learning environment is changing. So, we as a future teacher to-be must be creative and keep ourself up-to-date.
