EKC 316 Separation Processes

 

 

Course Synopsis

To introduce the basic and advanced concepts of separation processes to the students. This includes mass transfer and the design criteria of processes such as humidification, drying, crystallization, adsorption, filtration and membrane processes, supercritical fluid extraction and advanced distillation.

 The class has been conducted Face-to-Face (F2F) during semester I (2020) but has been conducted fully online by using Webex during semester I (2021). The lecture notes and recorded lecture has been uploaded in eLearn@USM, where it could be access using this link e-Learn@USM EKC316.

There were few activities using educational apps online such as Padlet. In this Padlet activity, students has uploaded their answer, and other students will be able to comment and ask questions for their colleague. This kind of discussion on Padlet wall has encourage participation of students.

Asynchronous class also been done as flipped-classroom style, where students were asked to discuss with their colleagues, find their own resources based on instructions and materials given in eLearn portal.
