Practical in Downstream Processing
This course will enhance the techniques of downstream processing via laboratory practical. This course focuses on downstream processings, which are removal of insolubles, isolation of products and purification of products. In the aspects of insoluble removal, focus will be given to design of filtration, design of centrifugation and cogulation processes. In the aspect of product isolation, focus will be given to the design of solvent extractions, precipitation and adsorption. Purification will cover topics on design of separation process and application of chromatography techniques

Renewable Biomass
This theoritical course will expose students to various type of renewable biomass materials that can be used as substrate in the production of different bioprocess products. Focus is emphasized on the importance of this renewable biomass in human life for decades to come.On the other hand, to various methods and technologies that involves in biomass conversion to value-added product such as chemical, biochemical and thermochemical method will be introduced to the students.

The course will alllows student to give suggestion to solve complex environmental problem and pollution via biological process, understand the right sampling method to test rate of pollution and appropriate parameters to analyses for fulfill requirements of Malaysia and International standard and understanding the issue of environmental pollution and related regulation
