Few things about me

My given name is Nur Awanis binti Rashdan, used to be called as Awanis or Wawa. I am a final year student who is majoring in Anthropology & Sociology and minoring in Chinese. I have enjoyed my past few years in USM. However, due to Covid-19, we have to learn through online for two years and did not manage to join any physical activities in the university. Learning Anthropology & Sociology Theory in the first year has build my interest in this major where I can learn more about social life and culture. To learn other languages has been my dream since I was in high school. Luckily, USM have offered various minor courses including from School of Languages. This has helped me to follow my dream to learn Chinese. I was initially a student with engineering background and graduated with Diploma in Computer Engineering in Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). But I have decided to challenge myself with social science for a change. Throughout these years, I have excelled these majors with flying colours and it shows that I am easy to adapt with any changes. This will be my final semester in USM and I was hoping that my friends and I will graduate on time and will be able to meet soon after two years of online learning.

I am the only child in my family. Being the only child in the family is quite complicated, I would say. My parents are the one that I talked to everyday and we shared various kind of story each time. Living without brothers or sisters, I only have my family, friends and myself to rely on. Thankfully, I have them in my life as one of my main support system. My family are very close and we shared the same interest which is to travel and went food haunting together. On weekends, we usually visited my grandmothers and relatives. Living near to each other really helps us to have a strong bond and have more interaction.

I am from Kota Bharu, Kelantan which is also known as Negeri Cik Siti Wan Kembang. Kota Bharu is home to many mosques, museums and various buildings with unique architecture. One of the thing that I am proud of my hometown is that it has variety of delicious and traditional food. Most of the tourist that visit Kelantan will definitely stroll around to visit every famous eating spot. Other than that, the bond and unity of different races and religion in this state really amaze me each time. Every race are really fluent in Malay language and Kelantanese slang which make our bond grow stronger.

I am a shy person and did not talk much when you first meet me but once I get comfortable around someone, I tend to speak more. People always misunderstood me as an arrogant person and most of my friends told me that they afraid to say hi to me at first. But after they know me, they told me that I am such a comfortable person to be around with. I also love to enjoy my leisure time with my family, friends, or my cousins such as going to our favourite restaurant together because I think having fun and creating memories with the people that we cherish the most is very important in everyone's life.
