Kursus ini adalah kursus pengenalan kepada kaedah eksperimen yang berkaitan dengan struktur dan sifat-sifat bahan. Ia terdiri daripada sepuluh set eksperimen yang berbeza yang perlu pelajar jalankan dengan bantuan pensyarah dan kakitangan teknikal. Pelajar-pelajar akan dibahagikan kepada kumpulan kecil sebelum menjalankan eksperimen. Pelajar dikehendaki untuk merekod, mengukur, mengira dan akhirnya menulis dan menghantar laporan pada akhir setiap sesi. Setiap eksperimen meliputi pelbagai aspek bahan (iaitu logam, polimer, seramik dan komposit) dengan sifat yang berbeza. Pelajar-pelajar juga diberi taklimat keselamatan dan peraturan, sebelum menjalankan kerja-kerja amali.
The course is an introductory course on experimental method related to structure and properties of materials. It consists of ten set of different experiments which the student has to carry out with the assistance of lecturer and technical staff. Students are divided into small group and hands-on experiments are performed. Students are required to record, measure, calculate the result and finally write and submit a report at the end of each session. Each experiment covers various aspects of materials (i.e. metals, polymers, ceramics and composites) with different properties. Safety aspects and regulations on conducting scientific experiments are also briefed and taught.
