THE COURSE AIMED AT PROVIDING EXPERIENCES FOR SCIENCE EDUCATION STUDENTS IN PREPARING THEM OR TEACHING. THE COURSE PROVIDE OPPORTUNITY FOR THE STUDENTS TO COLLABORATIVELY DISCUSS AND ANALYSE THE METHODS CONCERNING CHEMISTRY TEACHING IN THE CLASSROOM. THE BROAD AIMS OF THIS COURSE ARE TO IDENTIFY THE IMPORTANCE OF TEACHING CHEMISTRY IN THE SECONDARY SCHOOL KURRICULUM; TO PRESENT ESSENTIAL CONCEPTS IN CHEMISTRY AND TO DEVELOP UNDERSTANDING OF EFFECTIVE INQUIRY METHODS AND ON THE USE OF TECHNOLOGY FOR THE TEACHING THE CONCEPTS AND TO DEMONSTRATE AN AWARENESS OF THE ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH CHEMISTRY. THESE ISSUES INCLUDE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND SOCIETY; REAL WORLD CHEMISTRY; THE BARRIERS ATSED BY TRADITIONAL TEACHING AND CHEMISTRY CURRICULA. TEACHING STRATEGIES IN THE CONTEXT OF HE FORMS IV-V WILL BEEXPLORED WITH A FOCUS ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND SOCIETY. METHODS FOR ASSESSING AND MONITORING STUDENTS WILL BE DISCUSSED.
