TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I have chosen teaching as a profession.  In USM I am responsible to teach a few courses such as GTS 202-First aid and CPR course, GTS 103- Anatomy for Sports Science Student, GTS 409- coordinator for final year project and also be a supervisor for undergraduate and postgraduate students. What is import to me is to understand the subject matter and goals. Every course that given to me need to be delivered with creative skill and honesty. I believed that this new generation of students is more alert. They know the level of your knowledge and how sincere are you to attend the class. Thus, preparation is prioritized. I have to practice so much time to make sure that all the contents are delivered smoothly and concise. Other than that, I need to be an understanding lecturer who always knows about the student conditions or problems. For example, my master student doesn't have any scholarship to relocate her studies. So, I gave her an elaun for GRA from my grant while waiting for her scholarship to be accepted. Sometimes I treat my student's lunch to spend time with them. During that time we can talk about how to manage our time, tips to remember the notes and also how to manage the stress as the students. My experience as a former student from USM really helps me to understand the lifestyle of the student here and how to adapt to the situation in Kelantan. Living in Kelantan is not easy especially from those who came from the urban area. However slowly, they will love it as I do.
