Defense and Coping Mechanism

At the end of this course, students should be able to:

  • define the concept of defense mechanism
  • list out, define and give examples of common defense mechanisms
  • know the classification of defense mechanism
  • define the concept of coping mechanisms and their classification

Pre-Learning Tasks:

They are encouraged to read the topic prior to the class and to list down as many questions as possible in order to facilitate their understanding of the topics (i.e. based on the learning outcomes). They are also encouraged to find information from the references for further readings and other resources that they think might facilitate the discussion.
