My Teaching Goals
Teaching should not be confine to only in classroom or seminar room or other space bounded by four walls. As mentioned by my Idols in Maxillofacial surgery,Prof Dato Abdul Rani Samsuddin, Prof Shaifulizan Abdul Rahman, Prof Dato Zainal Ariff, we teach not only from the textbooks, the best teacher is our patients.There are some patients we doctors never forget. They linger in our memories for various reasons. Often, it is their serious or unusual medical and dental conditions that stay with us. On the other occasions, it is a zany or unique personality that we recall , even years later.
Patience is a virtue.The most important quality that a teacher should have is patience. I will never give up on my students and would try out new ways to help them succeed in university.
My ultimate goals in teaching undergraduate dental students are for them to have a basic knowledge in Oral and Maxillofacial cases and the empathy towards the patients as part of the overall managements.I need them to be a safe and resilient dentist and encourage them to develop interest in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery as not many dentist are willing to enroll themselves in " Hospital base" dentistry.
