THIS COURSE PROVIDES CORE KNOWLEDGE IN DEPTH ABOUT THE DIVERSITY OF FUNGALLIKE ORGANISMS AND FUNGI THAT CAUSE DISEASES ON PLANTS. IT ALSO INCLUDES DETAILED INFORMATION ON PLANT AND PATHOGEN INTERACTION, ADAPTATION FOR PATHOGENICITY, TYPES OF PLANT DISEASES AND CONTROL STRATEGIES, RECOGNIZING PATHOGENS FROM DIFFERENT GROUPS, DISTINGUISHING DISEASE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS, ISOLATING PATHOGENS FROM DISEASED PLANTS, MORPHOLOGICAL IDENTIFICATION, AND GIVING EXPOSURE TO STUDENTS TO ACCURATELY DIAGNOSE PLANT DISEASES IN THE FIELD. THE PATHOGENS FROM EACH GROUP WILL BE DESCRIBED BY EMPHASIZING DISEASE CYCLE, PRODUCTION, SURVIVAL AND DISPERSAL OF INOCULUM. STUDENTS WILL BE EVALUATED THROUGH SPECIMEN COLLECTION, PRACTICAL REPORTS, PRESENTATION, TEST AND FINAL EXAMINATION. BLENDED TEACHING AND LEARNING ARE PRACTICED IN THIS COURSE. BESIDES CONVENTIONAL TEACHING METHODS, CURRENT TREND OF LEARNING METHODS WILL BE IMPLEMENTED SUCH AS INFORMATION SHARING THROUGH THE E-LEARNING PLATFORM, VIDEO PRESENTATION AS WELL AS ONLINE DISCUSSION.
