The course focuses on two major topics; catalysis and reactor design. Student will be exposed to the basic methods of catalyst preparations and characterization and later used in designing common heterogeneous and multi-phase reactors. Through understanding the underlying physics of the different reactor types, the student will be equipped to carry out reactor design tasks for conventional and novel reactors in a systematic way. Particular focus will be given on teaching approach in solving suitable problems, which is of relevance to the Final Year Design Project as well as professional practice.
