This course aims to provide students with knowledge and understanding of various issues, ideas, theories and perspectives of education and their relevance in development. The focus of this course is to clarify, discuss and build an understanding of issues related to education and development. Through this course, students will be able to understand the functions and issues of education and its impact on development. Students will discuss and debate the role, ideas and theories of development and views on education seen in terms of its function towards economic growth, human capital development, social, political, and economic change, issues of equal educational opportunity, globalization, and sustainable development.
