THIS COURSE IS DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS IN THE FIELD OF TESOL WHO WISH TO INVESTIGATE CURRENT THEORIES AND PRACTICE IN THE TEACHING OF READING. PEDAGOGY IS A CONTINUOUS THEME, BUT THE COURSE WILL ALSO EXPLORE ISSUES IN READING FROM THE POINTS OF VIEW OF BOTH COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY AND CONTEMPORARY CULTURE. THE COURSE AIMS TO HELP STUDENTS CRITICALLY REVIEW CURRENT RESEARCH AND THEORY RELATING TO READING AND THE READING PROCESS; CONDUCT RESEARCH TO EXAMINE AND ADDRESS CURRENT PRACTICE, ISSUES AND PROBLEMS IN THE PEDAGOGY OF READING, AND SUGGEST EFFECTIVE TECHNIQUES, STRATEGIES AND TEACHING METHODOLOGIES TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ READING SKILLS.
