Taksonomi merangkumi nomenklatur, lima kerajaan, konsep spesies, kekunci taksonomi, kemotaksonomi, taksonomi molekul dan taksonomi berangka. Filogenetik menekankan sistem pembiakan, hibridisasi, mekanisme pengasingan, geografi tumbuhan, ekologi, disjungsi, vikarians, hipotesis biogeografi, pembezaan ekologi, kaedah filogenetik serta aplikasi jujukan DNA untuk membina pokok evolusi.
Taxonomy covers nomenclature, five kingdoms, species concepts, taxonomic keys, chemotaxonomy, molecular taxonomy, and numerical taxonomy. Phylogenetics emphasizes breeding systems, hybridization, isolation mechanisms, plant geography, ecology, disjunction, vicariance, biogeographical hypotheses, ecological differentiation, phylogenetic methods, and DNA sequence applications for constructing evolutionary trees.
