Penemuan bukti terbaru kini menunjukkan bukti bahawa mekanisma genetik meliputi epigenetik seperti pemetilasan-DNA adalah regulator penting dalam keliatan sinaps dan perubahan tingkah laku akibat persekitaran, menyediakan mekanisme ""candidate"" yang mana persekitaran dan landskap genetik berinteraksi untuk menyokong kognitif. Oleh itu, kursus ini bertujuan untuk menyediakan latar belakang genetik yang ""mencukupi"" berkaitan dengan neurosains kognitif.
Emerging evidence suggests that genetic mechanisms including epigenetics such as DNA-methylation are essential regulators of synaptic plasticity and experience-dependent behavioural change, providing a candidate mechanism by which the environment and genetic landscape interact to support cognitions. Therefore, this course is aiming at providing โadequateโ genetics background in association to cognitive neurosciences.
