My Educational Background
I earned my Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Mathematics from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang in 2001. While I’m in my second semester of my third year of my degree, I start thinking of continuing my study. Soon after, I pursued my masters also at School of Mathematical Science, USM and Alhamdulillah, I manage to complete my Masters of Science in Statistics in 2002. My thesis was about investigating the behavior of count data whether it is overdispersion or underdispersion. I earned my PhD in Statistics from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2014. For my PhD, my research was about investigating the characteristic of ozone concentrations as one of the air pollution agents.

My career
My career in USM just begin in 2019. I have joined School of Educational Studies in April 2019. Previously, I was teaching at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, UPSI and I have 17 years of teaching experience. My big reason to left UPSI is my family because my family is the pillar of my strength. But I really bless and thankful to UPSI because of the opportunity given to me to start my career as an educator.
August 2002, I start working as a tutor (DA42) at UPSI before I was offered as a lecturer (DS45). Soon, January 2003, I started my career as a lecturer at age of 25 years old (at a very young age to be a lecturer I guess). But it’s ok because this is my ambition since I’m in my secondary school. I really admire one of my relative who has been a lecturer at Politeknik Seberang Perai, Penang. Being lecturer at this young age give me quite challenging because I don’t have any experience in handling lecture. Every time before entering the class, my whole body will shaking. The most challenging that I’ve face at early stage of my career is I have to teach a group of teachers whose under PKPG program (Program Khas Pensiswazahan Guru) that most of them were older than me and have much experienced in the field of education compared me. Some of them also hold an administration post such as senior assistant of student’s affair. My first course that I taught is Calculus. This is my very first experienced handling lecture and also the ‘older’ students. For sure this is my precious experience. Also, I was given some other course to be teach such as, Introductory Statistics, Probability Theory & Statistics, Research Methodology and many others. My career as a lecturer gradually increased, and besides teaching, I was involved in grants and research as well as publications. I really enjoy working in this field. Alhamdulillah, I was also surrounded by a very motivational working environment, I have friends and bosses who helped me in my career growth. I blessed that I always surrounded by these kindhearted people. I’m gonna miss them and always pray for Allah to grant them with good health and good life fiddunnia wa akhirah.
