Tell, Teach, Involve....LEARN
Course that I teach: Undergraduates courses
For the Undergraduates, my courses are:
- PGA103-Teacher,School and Society
- PGT212E- Mathematic Teaching Methods I
- PGT312E- Mathematic Teaching Methods I I
Teaching the undergraduates is fun because I can still experiment with a lot of strategies to expose them to the pedagogical knowledge and theories. I also manage to do blended learning by using USM E-learn (USM learning management system). Beside giving a lecture, I also utilize student centred learning (SCL) during my lecture. I provided a task to be complete, while students having a group discussion and presentation. My students had fun in my class when I comply my lecture with some technology tools such as menti meter, kahoot and padlet.
Course that I teach: Postgraduates courses
For the postgraduates, my courses are:
- PMC 500/ PLG 500 - Statistical Reasoning in Education
- PMC 561 - Theories of teaching and learning mathematics
I fully utilize SCL in teaching master’s student. The PMC500/ PLG500 are about basic statistical reasoning and I use to have a hands-on activity using SPSS software.
While PMC561 is about Theories of teaching and learning mathematics. The course discussion focuses on the development of mathematics learning theories, as well as the implications of the theories on the teaching and learning of mathematics in schools. Student are asked to choose one mathematics concept, Plan and carry out one lesson (60-80 minutes) to be taught in a primary or secondary mathematics classroom. Based on the Video-recorded lesson, they will Explain and Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the chosen approach/theory.
