About myself...
Assalamualaikum w.b.t & Salam Sejahtera,
Welcome to my page! My name is Norlia Mahror from the School of Industrial Technology. I joined USM in October 2019, as a senior lecturer in Food Technology Division, PPTI, USM. I was born in Teluk Intan, Perak, and I am the eldest of four sisters in my family. I got my early education at SK Sungai Tungku, Teluk Intan and then I went to a secondary school in Ipoh, SMK Raja Permaisuri Bainun. After that, I went to Perak Matriculation College before enrolling for my Bachelor's Degree at Universiti Sains Malaysia. I graduated in 2008, majoring in Microbiology from the School of Biological Sciences. I decided to further study for a Master's Degree after receiving an offer from USM under the Academic Staff Training Scheme. I graduated with a Master's Degree in Food Science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and continued for a Ph.D in Food Safety in Universiti Putra Malaysia. After five years of struggling for Ph.D studies, I finally graduated in 2019 and returned to USM as an academic staff.
My area of specialization is food microbiology & food safety. I have a great interest in mycology, especially the identification of Aspergillus spp. and mycotoxin contamination in foods. I've been assigned to teach undergraduate courses; Food Microbiology 1, Food Microbiology 2, Foodborne Pathogens, and Food Safety. Teaching has been my passion since I was in primary school, and I wish to be a successful educator in the future.
