Best Paper and Presenter Awards @4th ICRP 2019
This is the first award that I will always remember. I made the School of Civil Engineering proud by being awarded both the Best Paper Award and Best Presenter Award at the 4th International Conference on Rebuilding Places (ICRP 2019). The ICRP 2019 was successfully held at Bayview Hotel, Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia on the 6th and 7th November 2019. It was about 3 months after I joined USM.
The research paper entitled “Pavement Roughness Modeling using Regression and ANN Methods for LTPP Western Region” was presented on 7th November 2019. The study aimed to develop the enhanced and simplified asphalt pavement roughness condition deterioration prediction equations based on the existing Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG). The multiple linear regression and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) approaches were evaluated for the data sets collected in the United States, and the results were shared with the audience during the presentation. I highlighted the importance of developing predictive equations that are reasonable and practical for other research implementations. I also shared my thought on the possibility of conducting similar research in Malaysia, which has a typical tropical climate. Thank you, School of Civil Engineering, USM, Penang.
Photos of other success stories were shared as well.
