YEAR 2

This course introduces the diseases in General Medicine and General Surgery. History taking, physical examination and formulation of diagnosis will be taught. The students also will be exposed to the need of performing basic investigation, and management of diseases. The knowledge regarding basic sciences and human biology will be applied as the students understand and deepen the patient’s disease. In addition, they also will learn how to recognize cases which should be referred to respective speciality for further evaluation and treatment. Students also will be exposed on clinical procedure which commonly conducted in wad. Students will be posted in medical ward and surgical wad in Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia.
Teaching session includes case discussion, practical, case presentation and ward round. Students should attend all learning sessions in order to gain optimal knowledge and skill. Their knowledge will be assessed through coursework which includes test, case report and case presentation.
