This course provides an introduction to bacterial structures, including size and morphology of bacteria and the formation of endospores. This course also introduces basic microbiological techniques such as microscopy, staining, isolation, culture, maintenance and storage of pure cultures and enumeration of bacteria. It also covers topics such as bacterial growth, microbial nutrition and metabolism, bacterial genetics and classification.
