This course covers principles in medicinal chemistry that are used in modern drug design, discovery and development. An overview of how a drug is discovered and developed and key concepts such as drug targets, drug-target interactions in drug action, structure-activity relationships, influence of physicochemical parameters to drug pharmacokinetics, lead optimization and drug design techniques such as QSAR and CADD are presented.
