This course introduces the participants to the systemic physiology and common disease pathophysiology associated with the gastrointestinal (GIT) system. Pharmacological and chemical aspects of the drugs used to treat these GIT disorders including their mechanisms of action, structure-activity relationships and common adverse effects will be eventually elaborated. Finally, the clinical component will include a discussion of the therapeutic aspects of drugs, including drug selection, dosing regimen and drug monitoring.
