The course provides students with a general introduction to the major areas of linguistics. It describes, explores, and explains the nature of language through its cognitive and social mechanisms. The course also presents several methods to study language. It provides students with basic knowledge of linguistics in terms of techniques and analyses. This prepares students to enrich their knowledge in other courses in linguistics or related disciplines.
