This course aims to acquaint students with American Literature from the early 19th century to the present. Relevant texts embodying certain periods will be studied. Students will be introduced to significant literary styles from various groups of authors to gain wider exposure to American Literature. Students will examine works of prose, poetry, drama, and fiction related to historical, political, and socio-cultural contexts. At the end of the course, students read, analyze, and respond critically to texts in class discussions, assignments, and essays.
