This course provides a broad and detailed discussion of agricultural economics. The objectives of the course are as follows. First, to understand the basic concepts of economics in the activities of production, marketing, trade and consumption of agricultural output. Second, to apply economic concepts in the discussion of economic activities in the crops, livestock, and fisheries sub-sectors. Third, to discuss issues, approaches and government interventions with specific reference to agricultural case studies in Malaysia. Fourth, to increase awareness of the sustainability of the agricultural sector through innovation and entrepreneurship.
