This course introduces students to fundamental concept of toxicology, forensic toxicology, poison, multiple poisoned material, chemistry and appearance of poisoned material, multiple procedures, techniques and equipments employed to extract, identify and profile the poisoned material from biological and autopsy specimens. Classification and identification of drugs that commonly abused, modes of action in human body and techniques to identify and detect them will also be emphasized. The course will be taught via lectures and practicals. Students will be assessed through tests, assignments, practical reports, practical test/OSPE and final examination. As this course combines flipped and BLS (blended learning substitutions) classes, students are expected to have already gone through the materials provided beforehand and be prepared for lectures.
